PacifiClean Environmental of Washington and Ovenell Farms
Partnership to Complete Organics to Compost Cycle
Spokane, WA July 17, 2014 – PacifiClean Environmental of Washington, LLC, (“PCW”) a Northwest leader in organics management and Ovenell Farms Inc., (“OFI”) a custom farming and compost operation based in Quincy, Washington, today announced an agreement to provide custom organics processing and land application. PCW recently received a contract with the City of Seattle to receive and process curbside collected municipal yard waste co-mingled with residential food waste. The product will be processed at the Quincy compost facility, along with other organic material, and then applied as a soil amendment to local agricultural ground by Ovenell Farms.
OFI, which owns the facility and the adjoining cattle feed lot, has been composting organics, including manure, animal bedding, orchard trimmings, cull whole fruits and vegetables, vegetative food processing waste, animal feed, grape pomace and mint slugs at the facility under a permit received in 2010. PCW’s contract will provide a compostable organic feedstock, allowing OFI to provide a sustainable product to our local agriculture.
“We are very pleased to have forged a partnership with Ovenell Farms to address the need for organic processing and application that advance our area’s environmental, as well as, agricultural requirements” said Larry Condon, General Manager of PacifiClean Environmental of Washington. “Both companies have fundamental commitments to be good neighbors, good employers, and good members of the communities we serve.”
Gregg Ovenell, President of Ovenell Farms, said “I look forward to offering a sustainable resource stream to area farmers, completing the cycle of nutrients back to the soil. Central Washington farms have long depended on value-added soil amendments to enrich our soils and develop water retention and soil porosity, while adding microbial activity back to the soil.”

About Ovenell Farms, Inc.
Ovenell Farms has been in operation for six generations beginning in Stanwood, Washington with crop and dairy production and moving to Eastern Washington in the early 1990’s to raise dairy replacement heifers. Ovenell Farms began processing the manure from its facility in 2006 for the purpose of providing a soil amendment to local crop farmers. Since 2010, Ovenell Farms has been a permitted compost facility and has been producing compost that is certified for organic use by the WSDA under the brand name Cowpost. By 2011, Ovenell Farms made the decision to focus solely on soil amendments in order to fill a growing need in the agricultural community. With GPS guidance systems and variable rate technology, Ovenell Farms is able to broadcast beneficial soil amendments to large-scale agricultural ground. Essentially, the company’s mission is to turn nutrient rich waste streams into viable resources for agriculture with the added benefit of applying the product in an agronomic manner which contributes to overall soil health and profitability for farmers.
